Addie Matthews

Mrs. Addie Mae Bowman Matthews, age 101, of Villa Rica, passed away, Thursday, February 22, 2018. She was born June 15, 1916 in Cherokee County, AL the daughter of the late Mr. Tom Bowman and the late Mrs. Rosie Bowman. Mrs. Matthews retired from Villa Rica City Hospital for many years. She was a member of New Georgia Baptist Church.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Matthews; sister, Etta Bowman; brother, James “J.T.” Bowman.She is survived by her daughter, Lessie George Thorton of New Georgia; two grandchildren, Sheila Phillips of Villa Rica, Sherry and Terry Cook of Carrollton; four great grandchildren, Jason Ponder, Amanda Campbell, Shane George, and Kami Coleman; five great-great grandchildren, Tyler Rice, Andrew Rice, Bella George, Rey and Riley Coleman; one great-great-great grandchild, Ayden Rice; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Hollis, Rev. Charles Bice and Dr. Keith Stell officiating.
