Adelbert "Jim" Leonard McInteer, Jr.

June 20, 1934 — July 3, 2024

Mr. Adelbert Leonard McInteer, Jr. (Jim), age 90, of Smyrna (and more recently of Villa Rica) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 3, 2024. He was born June 20, 1934 in Tustin, California to the late Adelbert Leonard McInteer Sr. and the late Augusta Kindell McInteer.

Jim had a passion for education, healing and art. Jim put himself through college working in a mental institution in the summer and pursuing a medical degree at the University of Oregon. He later changed his major and graduated with a Bachelor of Science. After graduation, he went to work for Minute Maid, a division of Coca-Cola. He traveled all over the country in his line of work. Later, he transferred to Atlanta, where he met and married Linda Wynn, who also worked for Coca-Cola. They celebrated 56 years of marriage this past September.

Jim was also a wine connoisseur who enjoyed sampling wines wherever he went. He and his wife planted and tended a vineyard on her parent's farm and produced wine for themselves, family and friends for 10 years under their label of Purple Foot.

He retired from Coca-Cola as a Quality Control expert after 32 years. Having taken the necessary courses, he became a Neuromuscular Therapist and practiced for 5 years. He continued his education in Art which had been a huge interest since he was young as his mother was also an artist. He traveled with small art groups with an instructor throughout Europe and left many paintings for his family to enjoy.

Jim was also very interested in technology and had every new gadget before anyone else. He was very adept at finances and, because he was, the two of them traveled extensively through Europe. He celebrated his 60" birthday in Monaco. He liked to tell stories about his travels and the adventures he and Linda had and having told them numerous times began to start with “this is story number 138" or another number. He loved the Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs but, if the Oregon Ducks were playing, he was on their side cheering them on.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Judith McInteer. He is survived by his wife, Linda Wynn McInteer; brothers-in law Tommy Turner, Lawrence Wynn, (Linda), and Larry Wynn (Nancy), and numerous nieces and nephews and great/great-great nieces and nephews.
