Mr. Alan Lee Gilbert, 63, of Bowdon, Georgia passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017. He was born September 10, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana the son of the late Mr. Emmett “Sonny” Winfred Gilbert, Sr. and the late Mrs. Sarah Martha Lee Gilbert. He retired as a plant manager from Air Vac. He loved music and playing the guitar. He enjoyed football and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons. He loved all his family, especially enjoying time spent with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Kaye Gilbert; and sister, Patricia Ann Gilbert. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jessica Gilbert and Joseph Bradley of Douglasville and Carla Craven of Tallapoosa; two sons, Justin Gilbert of Bowdon and Lee Gilbert of Bremen; sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelyn Tedford of McDonough and Susan and Ricky Perry of Madison; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emmett and Cindy Gilbert Jr. of Cornelia, Jonathon and Patsy Cantrell of Monticello, Patrick and Judy Gilbert of Eatonton, and Tommy Gilbert of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family plans a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made in memory of Mr. Alan Lee Gilbert to assist with funeral expenses, c/o: Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, 2189 Midway Road, Douglasville, GA 30135.
