Alvira Beckford Manley

Mrs. Alvira C. Beckford Manley, age 84 of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021. She was born June 7, 1936 in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, the daughter of the late Mr. Heasept Beckford and the late Mrs. Mabel Dunkley Beckford. Mrs. Manley loved to read and study her Bible. She took care of the elderly for many years. She kept her great grandson from birth until preschool age. Mrs. Manley was of the Church of God faith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Albert Manley; brother, Gerald Beckford; sister, Lena Beckford. Mrs. Manley is survived by daughters, Carol Balista of Douglasville, Georgia, Jennifer Edwards of Douglasville, Georgia, Joan Richards of New York; sons and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Joy Edwards of New York, Junior Richards of New York, Horace Richards of New York, Gary Richards of New York; sisters, Girlie Facey of New York, Thelma Beckford of Kingston, Jamaica, Norma Beckford of England; brothers, Lepert Beckford of Kingston, Jamaica, Vincent Beckford of Jamaica; eighteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville Friday, January 29, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
