Mrs. Amy Barfield Fuquea, 91, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, August 20, 2018. A native of Douglasville, she was born May 6, 1927 the daughter of the late Mr. Calvin Alexander Barfield, Sr. and the late Mrs. Myrtie Strawn Barfield. She retired as the secretary and bookkeeper from Mount Carmel Elementary School following 37 years of service. She was a longtime member of County Line Baptist Church in Lithia Springs where she served faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher for the Preschool age children. She loved gardening and arranging flowers. She was a Proverbs 31 Woman who cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, church family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Fuquea; son, Tommy Eugene Fuquea; and five siblings. She is survived by her son, James Michael “Mike” Fuquea of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter-in-law, Barbara Jean Fuquea of Douglasville; grandchildren, Shelley and Jeff Smith of Bremen, Kristi and Shan Layman of Winston, Jacqi Fuquea of Colorado Springs, CO, and Shawna and Don Hutchinson of Dayton, OH; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor David McLendon officiating. Interment will follow at County Line Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Amy Fuquea may be made to County Line Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1814 N. County Line Rd., Lithia Springs, GA 30122. Messages of condolence to the family may be sent at www.jones-wynn.com.
