Andrew Jackson Cooper, III, Ph.d
Dr. Andrew Jackson Cooper, III (Jack), 90, peacefully passed away on December 30, 2021. He was born in Atlanta on December 11, 1931, to Viola and Andrew J. Cooper, II. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol P. Cooper, his parents, and his brother, Jimmy Cooper.
Dr. Cooper was educated at Georgia Military Academy, graduating Suma Cum Lade in 1949. He continued his education at Georgia Tech, completing his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management in 1953, and earned his Master of Science in Industrial Management in 1954. He then continued at Princeton receiving his Master of Arts in 1959 and his Doctor of Philosophy in the study of Economics in 1961. His career at Georgia Tech spanned over 40 years in the School of Management as an Instructor, Associate Professor, and Associate Dean of Finance. During those 40 years at Tech he taught and greatly influenced the lives of literally thousands of students. He especially loved teaching Investments to his students and was very good at it.
The one thing that brought Jack and Carol so much joy in their lives were all their animals, which included many dogs, cats, and two raccoons named Sugar and Spice. There was never a time they didn't have a pet in their life!
Dr. Cooper has been under the care of Derene Fraser and Alexandra Stephens over the last nine years. Derene and Alex have always been by his side and they both were truly a blessing to him and his family every day….We could not have managed without them.
