Anita Black Ransom, age 82, of Douglasville Ga passed away on Monday February 12, 2024. She was born in Atlanta Ga, the daughter of the late Eric and Nell Black on February 2, 1942. In addition to her Parents, she is proceeded in death by her two sisters Lynnelle Harrison and Charlotte Currier and granddaughter Angel Ransom.
Anita aka “Nana” is survived by her children, Julie Couch (Jim) of Sautee Nacoochee Ga, Eric Ransom of Whitesburg Ga, Craig Ransom (Penelope) of Temple Ga, special nieces Becky Burgess and Linda Duncan, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She loved deeply and was very proud of her children and grandchildren.
Anita was a 1958 graduate of Sylvan Hills High School in Atlanta where she played violin in the school orchestra and always looked forward to attending class reunions and outings with her former classmates.
Over the course of her life Anita enjoyed singing in the church choir, sewing, camping, square dancing, bowling, playing bingo, playing the lottery, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, listening to Elvis, watching her soaps, and spending time with special friends and family. She was a loyal and devoted friend and cherished her many friendships, some of them spanning decades, with friends that were like family to her.
After many years as a stay-at-home Mom, Anita began a career in her forties starting at Parkway Regional Hospital, and eventually retired from American Southern Insurance in Atlanta in 2009. She was a member of Lithia Springs First Baptist Church.
Those who love her take comfort in knowing that she is now completely healed and at peace, at home in the presence of her savior.
A memorial service will be held at Jones-Wynn funeral home in Douglasville, GA on Monday February 19th. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 with service to follow at 2:00.
