Ann Louise Hanson McCullough Chance

Louise Chance, age 84, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica. She was born May 1, 1924 in Haralson County, Georgia, daughter of the late Mr. George Martin Hanson and the late Mrs. Dora Ophelia Harper Hanson. She was a member of Fullerville Baptist Church. She worked primarily in restaurant management and in textile industries until her retirement from disability in 1968. Mrs. Chance was also a dedicated friend who assisted the sick and elderly throughout her life. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mrs. Fannie Womack Hanson who raised her from the age of 22 months; sisters, Ovia Hanson Steadham, Inez Hanson, Annie Mae Hanson Farr, and Edna Hanson Collins; brother, George Martin Hanson, Jr.; her son, Joseph Ira McCullough; and one grandson, Christopher Dereck Hayes. Mrs. Chance is survived by two daughters, Freida Chance Thomas and Joan Chance Hayes, both of Villa Rica; sons and daughter-in-law, Andy Chance of Villa Rica and Donald and Beverly Chance of Villa Rica; daughter-in-law, Janice Costley McCullough Howell and her husband, Billy Howell, of McDonough; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Rudene Newell Hanson, Charles and Reba Chandler Hanson, and Robert and Ruth Truitt Hanson all of Carrollton; her grandchildren and their spouses, Cynthia McCullough Dukes of Jackson, Susan McCullough Morris and Richard of Locust Grove, Joel Glenn and Wendy McCullough of Jackson, Windell Chadwick Thomas of Villa Rica, Clint Marshall Chance of Villa Rica, Mark Howell of McDonough, Lynn Howell Nichols of Hampton, Paula Howell and Robert Olson of Hope Mills, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Ashley and Cody Dukes; Emily Nichols; Taylor and Marianna Morris; Caleb and Jared McCullough; Fred Bissette; Robert III, Ann Marie and Abigail Olson; special friend and caregiver, Elizabeth West; and several nieces and nephews. Additionally, Mrs. Chance is survived by cousins and descendants in the Bearden, Crawford, Gore, Hanson, Harper, Head, Holcombe, Howard, Jones, Lewis, Long, Malone, Martin, Patton, Tillman and White families, among others. Funeral Services were conducted Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Horace Wilson officiating. Interment followed at Little Vine Cemetery in Haralson County. Pallbearers were Joel McCullough, Clint Chance, Richard Morris, Joseph Dukes, Randy Roddy and Jeff West.
