Anna May Rager

Anna May Vangilder Rager, age 93, a beloved matriarch who brought joy and laughter to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024. She was born on March 19, 1931, in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late Mr. James Wesley Vangilder and the late Mrs. Mary Jane Croft Vangilder. Anna dedicated her life to her family and a warm and welcoming haven for relatives and friends alike. She cared for everyone as a caregiver to others for years. Anna had a nurturing sprit. Known as the glue of her family, she cultivated a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her kindness, warmth and love made everyone feel comfortable and appreciated.

Beyond her role as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, which were some of her proudest and fondest accomplishments. Anna had a multitude of interests that kept her spirit vibrant. She was a passionate gardener, who enjoyed nurturing her plants and watching them flourish. Her love for quilting and crocheting was truly a gift to behold that she enjoyed. Her beautiful love of raising birds for many years was an exciting passion of hers. 

Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. William Franklin Rager, Sr.; great-grandson, Kayleb Airk Reich; great- great granddaughter, Emerysn Grace.

She is survived by her daughter, Regina Brackin; son, William “Bill” (Susan) Rager; grandchildren, Maryanne Peterman, Roxane Flanagan, Jenny Reich, Rebecca Reich, Brandy Mauldin, Lyn Ross, Ryan Otwell and Justin Otwell. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 25, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 3:00 p.m from the Villa Rica Chapel Jones-Wynn Funeral Home. Interment will follow Meadowbrook Memory Gardens.
