Annie Wester

Mrs. Annie Ruth Hall Wester, age 96, of Villa Rica, passed away, Tuesday, May 15, 2018. She was born June 7, 1921 in Villa Rica, the daughter of the late Mr. Martin Alonzo Penzon Hall and the late Mrs. Flora Miriam Layton Hall. Mrs. Wester graduated Valedictorian from Douglas County High School. After high school, she attended Draughon School of Commerce and evening classes at The University of Georgia Extension in Atlanta. She worked at Houghton-Mifflin Publishing Company and J. Walter Thompson Advertising Company. She married John Norman Wester on August 2, 1946 in Villa Rica, Georgia. They later moved to New Bern, NC, Tsing Tao, China, Orange County, California, and Atlanta, Georgia before settling in Carroll County. Mrs. Wester was the business manager for Villa Rica City Hospital, Holy Family Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Atlanta Eye Clinic, and Villa Rica Medical Clinic, retiring in 1985. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Villa Rica and Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was known for her smile and laugh; her smile could light up the building. She was very well read and kept abreast of all current events and loved lively conversations.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Norman Wester; sister-in-law, Joyce Wester Bell Young. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Melinda Anne Wester of Villa Rica, Cindy and David Butler of Temple; grandchildren, Annie Elizabeth Butler of Carrollton, John-David Wester Butler of Temple. She is also survived by nephew, Jim and Amanda Bell of Atlanta; two nieces, Susan and David MacDonald of Santa Rosa, Florida, Mary and Ben Worthy of Atlanta. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Friday, May 18, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Center Point United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Tidwell officiating. Interment will follow at Center Point Cemetery. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, John-David Butler, Edward Butler, Monroe Spake, Johnny Levans, Lawrence Parrish and Donald Levans.Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
