Arthur Edwin Allen

Mr. Arthur Edwin Allen, age 75, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away, Saturday, May 17, 2008 at his residence. He was born July 19, 1932 in Rockmart, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Arthur B. Allen and the late Mrs. Daisey Lucille Allen. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Sears Roebuck Company and after retiring worked at the Flower Basket in Douglasville. He was a devoted and faithful member of the Second Baptist Church of Douglasville where he led the choir for many years singing and praising the Lord. Mr. Allen was a devoted husband for 53 years and loved his wife and family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Lumpkin Allen; sister Mina Davis and brother Herbert Allen. He is survived by one son Jerry Wayne Allen of Douglasville; cousins, Mable and Jimmy Williams of Atlanta, Sandra Williams of Atlanta, Paige and Jeff Bass of Cobb County and Alexis and Jim Anderson of Douglasville; sister-in-law Joyce Huey of Douglasville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 2:30 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Wood officiating. Musical selections will be rendered by Mrs. Patricia Worley. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Gene Easterwood, Mike Worley, Tim Morris, Jeff Bass, Ryan Bass, and Russell King. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Monday, May 19, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Tuesday, May 20, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
