Mr. Arthur Washington Stem, Jr., 82, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Monday, February 5, 2007 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia. He was born June 18, 1924 in Carroll County, Maryland, the son of the late Mr. Arthur W. Stem and the late Mrs. Clara Dixon Stem. Mr. Stem was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force having served during World War II. He retired from the State of Maryland Army Corp of Engineers where he worked as an engineer. Mr. Stem was a member of Midway Macedonia Baptist Church in Villa Rica, Georgia where he actively served as a greeter. He was also a life member of the VFW and Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Stem was a member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Winter Haven Moose Lodge. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stem was preceded in death by his first wife Mrs. LuElla Stem; his brother, Monroe Stem and his sister, Etta Williams. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Yvonne Davis Stem of Villa Rica; his daughters and sons-in-law, LuAnn and William Gamber of Westminster, Maryland, Diane and Glenn Maskell of Sykesville, Maryland; his step-daughter and step son-in-law, Tammy and Tony Black of Florida; his step-sons, Scot Davis of Douglasville and Stuart Davis of Dahlonega; his grandchildren, Bill Gamber, Jr. Brett Gamber, Karrah Maskell, Glenn Maskell, Kori Black, Kristen Black and Lake Black; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 11:00AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Georgia with Rev. Todd Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Kriders Church Cemetery near Westminster in Carroll County, Maryland. The family will be receiving friends in the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 10:00AM until the funeral hour.
