Augusta Bailey, 79, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Tuesday, February 05, 2008 at Heartland Hospice in Austell. Mr. Bailey was born August 16, 1928 in Marlboro County, South Carolina; the son of the late Eddie Bailey, Sr. and the late Mattie Boyd Bailey. Mr. Bailey attended high school in Laurinburg, North Carolina. On December 26, 1950, he married Myrtle Quick in South Carolina. Mr. Bailey enlisted in the United States Army in February of 1951 and retired in February of 1975 after twenty four years of distinguished service. During his duty as a missile specialist, he served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War twice. He received an associate degree from Ayers Technical College after retirement. Mr. Bailey was a longtime member of St. Paulâs Church in Jacksonville, Alabama. He later joined the Assembly of the Saints Church in Villa Rica and was very close friends with his Pastor, Dr. Frederick Foster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Augusta Bailey, Jr. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty seven years, Mrs. Myrtle Quick Bailey; daughter and son in-law, Dr. Kathy Bailey-Bruster and Sherman Bruster; son and daughter in-law, Dr. Erroll J. Bailey and Dr. Alise Jones-Bailey; brothers and sister in-laws, Eddie Bailey, Jr. and Geraldine Bailey; and Milton and Josephine Bailey; sisters and brother in-laws, Annie Pearl and Rufus Willis; Irene and Bob Thomas; Dr.âs Louise and Harold Nichols; Loraine and Bobby Hinton; Livadell Quick, Dorothy Ann Jones, Betty King; and Thelma Parker; five grandchildren, Sean Bailey, Hamilton Bailey, Alexis Bailey, Kayla Bruster, and Baleigh Bruster; two great grandchildren, Abijah Bailey, and Anihalla Bailey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 2:00PM from the Assembly of the Saints Church in Villa Rica, Georgia with Pastor Frederick Foster officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica. The family will receive friends at the Assembly of the Saints Church in Villa Rica, Georgia on Saturday, February 9, 2008 from 12:30PM until the funeral hour.
