Barbara Raye Webb Holland

Mrs. Barbara Raye Webb Holland, age 70, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away suddenly Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Emory University Hospital at 3:15 p.m. due to a massive stroke. A native of Douglas County, she was born April 14, 1939 the daughter of the late Mr. Joseph Ray Webb and the late Mrs. Ruby Faye Marlow Webb Haynes. She married Selwyn Wesley Holland on November 16, 1957, at the home of C.B. and Adel Fountain in East Point, Georgia. She was a member of Sunset Hills Baptist Church. Mrs. Holland and her husband were the longtime owner and operator of Holland Electric Plumbing and Heating, Inc. She served as treasurer for the Douglas County High School Class of 1957. She was an American Red Cross volunteer and served at many blood drives. She enjoyed scrapbooking. Her beloved Yorkie Terrier named Doodles was dearly loved and cherished by Mrs. Holland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Mr. Selwyn Wesley Holland on January 9, 2005; and her brother, Charles Thomas Webb. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Holland Shepherd and Alan Shepherd of Douglasville; three grandchildren, Todd and Heather McElroy, Holly Shepherd, and Wesley Shepherd; one great-grandchild, Alayna McElroy; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elaine and Virgil Holtzclaw of Douglasville and Michael and Nancy Holland of Cedartown; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Gibbs and Rev. Ikey Watson officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Douglas County High School Class of 1957. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jeff Holtzclaw, James Rutherford, Dustin Stokes, Steve Worcester, Jack Dodd, and Lowell Thompson. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Rev. Stephen Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Tuesday, November 17, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
