Barbara Jane Tucker, 80, of Douglasville, passed away on October 3, 2026. She was born on September 12, 1946, in Fulton County, Georgia to the late Mary Jane Ingram Garrett and John Everett Garrett.
Barbara devoted part of her working life to education, serving as a special education paraprofessional. Her work reflected the caring spirit that so many knew and loved in her, and she brought compassion and dedication to the students and families whose lives she touched.
She was a faithful and active member of Clearview Baptist Church, where she found joy in worship, fellowship, and service. Barbara was also part of a craft group at her church, and she especially enjoyed making ceramics, painting, knitting, and crocheting. These creative pursuits were a meaningful part of her life and a reflection of the warmth and care she shared with others. Barbara will be remembered as sassy, sweet, loving, and caring, a woman who never met a stranger and who made people feel welcome wherever she went.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Mr. Donald Robert Tucker; her son, James Jr. Anderson; granddaughter, Ashley Kayley Tucker; son-in-law, James Hindman, Sr.; sisters, Margaret Evans and Brenda Garrett; and brother; Dwight Garrett.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory always. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Deidera Hindman (Shawn Lowery) of Douglasville; her son, Charles Tucker, and daughter-in-law, Kelly Tucker, of Lithia Springs; her grandchildren, Brittany, Ethan, Makayla, C.J., Hallie, James Jr., Tonya, Auburn, and Bexleigh; and her great-grandchildren, Aden, James and Alexis and Shannon Burke; sisters; Edith Woodruff, Beverly Lawson, Shirley Gallimore and Wyndell Garrett; brother, Wayne Garrett; as well as several nieces and nephews. Her family will remember her with deep love and gratitude for the kindness, strength, and affection she gave so freely.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Wynn - Douglas Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Jones-Wynn - Douglas Chapel with interment to follow at Sunrise Gardens of Memories, 11261 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Douglasville, GA 30134.
