Benjamin F. (Frank) Givens Jr., 90, passed Saturday, February 18, 2023, he was born in Atlanta, GA to Ruby Elsie Heins and Benjamin Franklin Givens Sr. He had one sister, Frances Cooper (deceased). Due to his father’s job with AT&T, the family moved to Savannah, Miami, Nashville, Neptune Beach and Decatur. Graduated from Decatur Boys High, attended Georgia Tech on a football scholarship, played for Bobby Dodd and graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Management in 1955. He played guard and tackle, number 50, they were national champs, won three bowl games, two sugar bowls and one orange bowl.
He was married to Joyce Peters, August 1952, divorced January 1969. They had three daughters, Teresa Lynn (deceased), Pamela Joyce and Linda Jean. He was activated into the U.S. Army for 6 months at Fort Bliss, Texas. He then returned to work for Southern Bell/BellSouth and retired in 1991. In September 1969 he married Linda Rigdon, his wife of 53 years and they made their home in Douglas County for 51 years. He is survived by his brothers-in-law, James C. Rigdon and Robert Meddings, Nieces, Gail Cooper, Amanda Potter, Nephews, Robert Cooper, Michael Anderson and Edwin Anderson. Also, he cherished many friends and neighbors who always made him so proud.
