Bennie J. Brewster, Jr., 81, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026. He was born on March 8, 1944, the son of the late Bennie Harden Brewster and the late Thelma Moore Brewster.
Bennie's life was marked by a strong sense of service, passion for sports, and unwavering faith.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Bennie served his country with distinction and honor. This commitment to service extended into his daily life as he dedicated his time to help others. He was actively involved at New Beginnings Church of God, where his love for the Lord shone brightly. Bennie contributed to the church community by assisting with security and overseeing parking lot monitoring, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all congregation members.
Bennie's personality was vibrant and engaging. He found immense joy in fishing and loved the serenity of riding in a boat, where he created countless memories on the water. His enthusiastic spirit also embraced the thrill of sports; he was a loyal fan of Alabama Football and Nascar, frequently immersing himself in the excitement of games and races. In addition to his sports passions, he cherished the simpler pleasures of life, often found enjoying popular gameshows, bringing laughter and fun to those around him.
Bennie is remembered for the warmth and kindness he extended to everyone he encountered. His infectious smile and loving nature made him a cherished figure in the lives of his family, friends, and community members. His legacy is one of faith, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to helping others, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Janice Brewster, Step-son, Phillip Blackwell, and sisters, Peggy Hernandez and Evelyn Brewster.
He is survived by his wife Juanita Sanders Brewster; step-daughter, Betty Moore of Douglasville, GA; Step-sons, James Blackwell of Georgia; Tony Blackwell of Georgia, Thomas Blackwell of Georgia, Steven Blackwell of Douglasville, GA, and David Blackwell of Fort Walton Beach, FL; sisters, Jean (Jim) Weadon of South Carolina, and Margie (Leroy Woodley) Kline of Pompano Beach, FL; brothers, Jimmy Brewster of Douglasville, GA, Frankie (Shirley) Brewster of Douglasville, GA, and Herbie Brewster of Pompano Beach, FL; numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and Ruthie Brewster Swain of Douglasville, GA who was married to Bennie for over 30 years.
The family will receive family and friends on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel with Pastor Scott Crowe and Pastor Garry Tanner officiating.
Interment will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
