Mrs. Bertha âBeaâ Schultz, age 90, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away June 9, 2009. She was born June 6, 1919 in Hackleburg, Alabama the daughter of the late Mr. Willie D. Loden and the late Mrs. Prudence Mays Loden. In 1943, she made Atlanta her home where she modeled shoes, worked for Auto Electric and Maginto, The Cricket Shop, and worked in real estate for over 25 years. Later in life, when most are slowing down she opened a homecare nursing business called âBeaâs Placeâ. She was a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church in Douglasville. She was a member of Pilots Club International in Douglasville. She enjoyed remarkable health way into her 80âs and spent her days with church family and friends while she continued to maintain her yard and flower garden. Mrs. Schultz was a joyful person with a wonderful spirit. She fed her sense of adventure in every day life and with her travels to Germany and Okinawa. She proudly drove without limits. In 2008, she moved to Chestnut Ridge Nursing Home in Cumming where with her usual resilience she won the Senior Beauty Pageant and competed in the State Pageant where she won 3rd place. While at Chestnut Ridge, she assisted the activities director in fundraising and ironing cloths for the womenâs shelter. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, William Schultz and daughter, Brenda Ellis. She is survived by her son, Charles L. Thornton of Lithia Springs; sisters, Iva Couch, Kate Clarke of Mobile, AL and Mary Hudson of Tucson, AZ; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Lee Thornton, Jr. and his wife, Kimberly Fugate, Deborah Boyles and her husband, Jeremy, Kimberly Archer and her husband, Brian, and Matthew Ellis; 5 great-grandchildren, PFC Zachary Seabolt, Caleb Seabolt, Brianna Archer, Stephen Archer, and Zachary Archer; several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 3:00 PM from Victory Baptist Church in Douglasville with Pastor James Cook officiating. Inurnment will follow at Victory Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 2:30 PM until the funeral hour. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel is in charge of arrangements. 770-942-2311
