Betty Joan Aslinger

Betty "Joan" Aslinger, 86, of Winston, Georgia entered the loving arms of Jesus on July 17, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 8, 1939 in College Park, Georgia to the late R.E. Baker and Birdie Naomi (Johnston) Baker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Kenneth Baker, Sr..

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, James "Buddy" Aslinger; son, Steve (Debbie) Aslinger of Marietta, Georgia; daughter, Susan (Dale) Michaelson of Douglasville, Georgia; grandchildren, Samantha Michaelson, Patrick Michaelson, Catherine Aslinger, Elizabeth (Daniel) Aslinger-Wendler; great grandchild, Jordan Smith; sister-in-law Carole Baker; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joan was a woman of faith who loved Jesus and enjoyed serving in her church of 51 years as youth leader, funeral guild member, and many other servant roles. She deeply loved her family - caring about every aspect of their lives. She enjoyed the company of friends, volunteering at WellStar Douglas Hospital, serving with the Douglas County Citizen Law Enforcement Academy, church activities, camping and the Atlanta Braves!

A memorial service will be held July 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM with visitation starting at 12:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church Douglasville, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the “Youth Activities/Retreats Fund” at First Presbyterian Church Douglasville (9190 Campbellton Street, Douglasville, GA 30134). (www.fpcdouglasville.org)
