Betty Ruth Head

August 3, 1933 — May 8, 2026

Douglasville

Betty Ruth Head, 92, of Douglasville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, May 8, 2026. She was born on August 3, 1933, the daughter of the late Choctaw Kinard and the late Grace Pair Kinard.

Betty was a cherished soul whose love and devotion touched all who knew her. Throughout her life, Betty was a devoted wife, loving mother and MeMaw, holding her family close to her heart. Her family was her greatest joy.

Betty found happiness in the simple pleasures of everyday life. She had a fondness for sweets, bacon, and cooking. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.

Her faith was an important part of who she was. She was a regular and dedicated churchgoer at Midway United Methodist Church where she was a member of Rinnie Circle. Her favorite hymnal was "In the Garden," a song that resonated deeply with her. Betty’s love for music extended beyond hymns to include a fondness for Conway Twitty, with “Hello Darlin” being her favorite song. A true soap opera fan of "The Young and The Restless," she particularly admired the character Victor Newman and she loved the Hallmark Channel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Vernon Head; grand-daughter, Melissa Logan; brother, CT “Buddy” Kinard.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Logan of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Shawanee Head of Panama City, Florida, Michael and June Head of Locust Grove, Georgia; sister, Gail Jones of Benton, Tennessee; grandchildren, Austin Head, Cody Head, and Courtney Howie; great-grandchildren, Savanah, Hunter, Slate, William, and Nathan; and several nieces.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Midway United Methodist Church in Douglasville with a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Sharon White officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery in McDonough.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Cody Head, Chris Howie, Austin Head, Hunter Howie, Raymond Byrd, and Donnie Sizemore.

Betty’s passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by those who loved her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her love of family and simple joys, and her faithful spirit. As we honor her memory, we are reminded of the enduring impact she had on the lives she touched.
