Betty Hofele

Betty Ruth Hofele, 88, of Douglasville, passed away on December 3, 2023. She was born on December 3, 1935. She is the daughter of the late Stanford Rivers and the late Era Pierce Rivers. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.

Betty was a remarkable woman who loved traveling and exploring the world. She started her career as a flight attendant with Western Airline and retired as a Customer Service Agent with Delta Air Lines. With an insatiable curiosity, Betty and her husband Gary traveled the globe together, took over 75 cruises, and made long and lasting friendships all over the world. She loved sharing all the items, pictures, and memories they collected from their many adventures together. 

In addition to traveling, she had a creative spirit that shone brightly in both her artistic talents and seamstress skills. Many family members and friends were gifted with some beautiful and one-of-a-kind creations she designed just for them. She enjoyed cooking not only for her family, but within her church community. For many years she could be found in the kitchen of the fellowship hall behind the stove or serving the people who came in for dinner and ministry. Betty possessed a lovely voice, and she will be fondly remembered for her clear and beautiful soprano ringing out in many church and community choirs.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Carew Hofele; son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Regina Hofele of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jeffery Titterington of Sun City Center, FL; sister Marti Ginest of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Matthew (Karyssa) Arne, Justin (Kristen) Turney, Holly Carpenter, Chad (Ashley) Hall, Brandon (Montana) Hall, and Samuel (Lauren) Hall; seventeen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated. 

To honor Betty’s memory, the family invites you to join them at a memorial service at 11:00 am on January 20^th ,2024 at Ephesus Baptist Church, 8445 Ephesus Church Road, Villa Rica, GA 30180.
