Betty Joyce Garrett

Mrs. Betty Joyce Garrett, 57, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 15, 2006 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. She was born May 20, 1948 in Rome, Georgia the daughter of Mrs. Beulah Smith Mewborn and the late Mr. Bill Shead. She was a member of Bible Church of God in Union City and was a homemaker. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Garrett and her daughter, Brenda Joyce Garrett. She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Young of Douglasville; two sons, James William Garrett and Jerry Lee Garrett both of Douglasville; mother, Beulah Smith Mewborn of Douglasville; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Andy Black of Douglasville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Shelia Mewborn, David and Teresa Mewborn and Michael and Debbie Mewborn all of Douglasville; 3 grandchildren, Crystal, Jessica and Phillip; 2 great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jason; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, January 19, 2006 at 1:00 PM from the Bible Church of God in Union City with Pastor Talmadge Crawford officiating. Mrs. Garrett will lie in state at the church from 12:30 PM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM.
