Betty Jones Moore, 93, passed away peacefully in Winston, Ga at the home of her daughter on Friday, August 15th, 2025. 

Betty was born in Atlanta at Georgia Baptist Hospital on September 19, 1931, to Lonnie Daniel and Sally Mayo Jones. She was raised in Savannah, GA along with three siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Evans Moore, daughter Janet Moore, sister Helen Pardee, and two brothers Dan Jones and Kenny Jones. She is survived by five children, Carol (Greg) Leverson of Tulsa OK, Kathy Moore of Riverdale GA, Richard Moore Jr of Winston GA, Lynn (Brian) Nabors of Winston GA, and Beth (John) Sarmie of Jacksonville FL, five grandchildren Richard (Sophia) Leverson of Trussville AL, Kathryn Leverson of Austin TX, Evan (Brooklyn) Nabors of Villa Rica GA, Matthew (Alexis) Sarmie of Jacksonville FL, and Christopher Sarmie of Jacksonville FL, and two great grandchildren Diana Leverson and Liam Nabors (due October of 2025).

It was in Savannah where she met her husband in 1942. They were married at The Citadel on June 13, 1953, and her career as an Army spouse began. She lived and travelled all over the world following her husband to his different duty stations and raising their children.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to her caregivers – Neisha Clarke, Dana Bonner, Stephanie Holland, Hailey Jenkins, Allie Phillips, and Makhia Sanders.

Interment will be at The Citadel later.
