Billy Joe McCoy, age 79, of Temple, GA, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was born on January 24, 1945, in Cameron, Louisiana, the son of the late George James McCoy and the late Lena Mae Hubbard McCoy.

He was a dedicated individual who spent many years of his life working at Nabisco as a foreman, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment to his career. Bill’s journey was marked by significant contributions and moments that will forever be cherished. His service in the US Army from 1964 to 1967, including time spent as a cook in Korea and completing basic training in Fort Polk, Louisiana, exemplified his sense of duty and honor. Beyond his professional and military endeavors, Bill's true love was his family. Remembered fondly for his deep love for his children and grandchildren, he embraced every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with love and joy. In his leisure time, Bill found solace in the presence of horses and cars. His affinity for these animals and vehicles was evident to all who knew him, as he took pleasure in caring for horses and working on cars with great enthusiasm. Billy Joe McCoy leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and above all, love for his family. While we mourn his loss, we find comfort in the memories we shared with him and the impact he had on all those around him. May he rest in peace knowing that he was truly cherished and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
 
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Carole Annette Palmer; grand-daughter, Brianna Castillo; brothers, George Lewis McCoy and Clarence Wayne McCoy; sister, Dorothy C. McCoy. 

He is survived by his wife Margaret Richards McCoy; his children, VonSelle Castillo of Villa Rica, Darlene Thornhill of Rockmart, Annette (Michael) Frazier of Canton, Joe (Carrie) McCoy of Ellijay; sisters, Mary Ella McCoy and Dorothy Mae McCoy; brothers, William McCoy and James McCoy; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated. There are no further arrangements at this time.
