Bishop Lee Roy Messer, 77, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born March 24, 1930 in Turner County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. Henry Lee Messer and the late Mrs. Janie Beatrice Brown Messer. Bishop Messer was a member of the Abundant Life Church of God, having served in the ministry for fifty-seven years. He pastored in four different states and twenty-one different churches. He was a district overseer in Kentucky and Georgia; a state council member in Kentucky; and organized seven new churches in Kentucky. Preceded in death by his parents, survivors include his wife, Eveline Messer; daughters and son in-laws, Lilia Beatrice Messer of Canton; Jane and Lawrence Richardson of Calhoun; Elaine and Dennis Lindsey of Augusta; and Barbara and David Rice of Alta Loma, California; son and daughter in-law, Wayne and Darlene Truitt of Acworth, brothers and sister in-laws, Bobby Eugene and Clifton Messer of Holly Springs; and Herbert Lee and Chris Messer of Canton; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 2:00PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, in Villa Rica, Georgia with Bishop Don Walker and Bishop Thomas Blagg officiating. Interment will follow with a graveside service at 4:30 PM in Sunnyside Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Monday, April 28, 2007 from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
