Mrs. Blanche Seignious Ayres, age 84, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Monday, October 5, 2009. She was born April 18, 1925 in Atlanta, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. LeRoy Lee Seignious and the late Mrs. Blanche Wilson Seignious. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs. She married Thelbert Grenoble “Bill” Ayres on January 25, 1945 in Atlanta. She and her husband were the founders of Ayres Realty Company, the oldest real estate company in Douglas County. Mrs. Ayres served as Past President of the Lithia Springs Woman’s Club and the Sweetwater Garden Club. She played an instrumental role in obtaining the donation of land for the Lithia Springs Public Library. She enjoyed art and was a master china painter. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Thelbert Grenoble “Bill” Ayres on May 28, 2008; and her son, William Gordon Ayres. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven Douglas and Beth Ayres of Lithia Springs; brother and sister-in-law, Aubrey “Bo” and Crystal Seignious of Lithia Springs; 3 grandchildren, Heather and Matt McKay, Stephanie and Andrew Godfrey, and Benjamin and Amanda Ayres; 3 great-grandchildren, Alivia Ayres, Samantha McKay, and Emmeline Ayres; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Georgia with Dr. Marion Beaver and Rev. Mike Sinyard officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The following will serve as pallbearers: Benjamin Ayres, Andrew Godfrey, Matt McKay, Chip Ayres, Randy Gurley and Bob Brooker. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
