Missionary Bob Tyson, 72, of San Marcos de Colon, Choluteca, Honduras went to his heavenly home on May 20, 2007. He was called to be a missionary 1964 and had been faithful to preach the Gospel in the countries of South America since that time. In 1973, he founded the Good Samaritan Baptist Missions, Inc., whose headquarters are in Villa Rica. From his humble beginnings of preaching 30 night evangelistic tent meets in villages where there was no Gospel, Good Samaritan Baptist Missions now has over 200 churches, 200 national pastors, Christian high schools and grammar schools with enrollment s of over 2000 children. There are 36 feeding centers where 3,000 children are fed a good meal every day. There is also a center where the Elderly are able to come and eat a good meal daily. Brother Bobâs love was the training of national pastors and this is going on today in the Samaritan Bible Institute. Nine radio stations have been built reaching into six countries. Missionary Tyson was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Clifford and Ola Tyson, and three brothers, Harold, Joe, and Leonard. He is survived by his wife, Joan, of 53 years of marriage, two sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Olga Tyson, Steve and Scarleth Tyson, all of whom are also working in the ministry in Honduras; five grandchildren, Stephany, Philip, Jr., Michael, Ashley and Brianna; two sisters, Estelle Campbell and Martha Phillips; three sisters in law, Betty, Ethyleen, and Masako Tyson. Two services were held in Comali, Honduras with hundreds coming from far and near to say goodbye to their missionary who had brought the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to their villages. His body is being returned to Villa Rica where the family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on May 25, 2007 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Funeral Services will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Powder Springs on May 26, 2007 at 2:00PM. He will lie in state at the church from 12:30 PM until the funeral hour. The Board Members of the Good Samaritans Baptist Missions will be preaching and special singing will be rendered by Pastor Lamar Rackley and the Pleasant Hill Choir, Jane Keel, Harold Iglesias from Honduras and Antonio Inestroza and national preachers from Honduras. Interment will follow in the Christus Garden at the Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica.
