Brad D. Shelton, 63, of Temple, passed away with his family by his side on Monday, January 12, 2026. He was born on February 13, 1962, the son of the late Charles Dewitt Shelton, Jr. and the late JoAnn Fuller Shelton.
Brad, affectionately known as "Barefoot Blue Jean Brad" proudly served as a volunteer fireman in Villa Rica for many years, giving his time and energy unconditionally to help others. Brad knew what it meant to be a community member. He was always ready to lend a hand, offer support, or simply listen. His selflessness and dedication to helping anyone, at any time, exemplified the strength of his character and compassion.
Beyond his service, Brad's passion for hunting and fishing brought him great joy. Just a few months prior to his passing, he proudly celebrated a successful deer hunt. Just being outdoors brought him peace and happiness. Brad also had a creative spirit. He loved to draw and do woodworking. These hobbies allowed him to express his artistic side.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Christopher Shelton; sister, Teresa Charlene Norton.
He is survived by his sister, Debbie Darlene Shelton (Ernest Carlile); nieces and nephews, Tayler Sims (Gary Williamson), Misty Colbert (John Collier), Richard Carlile; great nieces and nephews, Morgan and Camron Jackson, Toni Mason, Kade Mason (Ashley Mason); numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel with a funeral service at 12:00 PM with Dr. Corky Addison officiating.
Brad leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a heart that was as big as the great outdoors he adored. He lived a life rich in experiences and filled with moments of selfless generosity. His vibrant personality and zest for life touched everyone who knew him, and his absence will be deeply felt by many. While we mourn the loss of Brad D. Shelton, we celebrate the remarkable man he was and the countless ways he enriched the lives of those around him.
