Brantley Hugh Smith, age 77, of Douglasville, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025. He was born on December 27, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Robert Hugh Smith and the late Helena June McKay. A proud veteran, Brantley served his country in the U.S. Army, after his service he dedicated himself to the field of Transportation Logistics. His commitment to service exemplified his character and dedication to others.
Known for his humorous nature and strong family orientation, Brantley was a cherished figure in the lives of his loved ones. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchild, often sharing joyful moments that highlighted his love for family. His legacy is marked not just by his service, but by the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him.
Brantley had a zest for life that was evident through his numerous hobbies and interests. He was an avid lover of dogs and maintained an active lifestyle, enjoying running and spending time in parks. His passion extended to yardwork, where he found joy in the beauty of the outdoors.
Brantley was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hugh Smith and Helena June McKay.
His memory will be honored by his son and daughter in law, Derick and Ellen Smith, his grandsons, Andrew Smith and Austin Guinn, and his great-grandchild, Morgan Guinn.
Brantley Hugh Smith will be remembered not only for his accomplishments as a historian but also for the love and laughter he inspired in his family. His spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those he touched throughout his brief but impactful time in this world.
In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated and no service is planned at this time.
