Mr. Burnett Edward Phillips, 78 of Jones Mill Road, Whitesburg, GA passed away, Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. He was born May 21, 1927 in Carroll County, Georgia the son of the late Robert C. Phillips and the late Mrs. Lovella Josephine Young Phillips, He retired from the United States Army after 21 years of service, during his tenure he served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Consolation Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Edward Phillips, brothers, Roger Phillips, Watson, Phillips, Selby Phillips, Wilmer Phillips, and James Rupert Phillips and sister, Evelyn Phillips. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Inez Norris Phillips of Whitesburg, son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Lynn and Sheila Phillips of Villa Rica, sisters, Burma Boatright of Whitesburg and Syble Eason of Carrollton, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane of Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica.
