Mr. Carl Eugene Coker, 49, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born July 2, 1966 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Mr. William Russell Coker and Mrs. Margaret Bolton Peters. At the age of 16, he began his career as a propmaker in the film industry, working for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Union #479 in Atlanta. He was a talented builder and enjoyed working with his hands in woodworking and carpentry. He was a loving and caring person that enjoyed helping others even when he wasn’t able. He was quick witted and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his family dearly. He is survived by his wife, Ramona Cheryl Dickerson Coker of Douglasville; his children, Haley and her husband, James Mixon of Lithia Springs, Nicholas “Nick” Aaron Coker of Statesboro, and Alex Mae Coker of Douglasville; his mother and stepfather, Margaret and William “Pete” Peters of Douglasville; his father, William Russell Coker of Forest Park; sisters, Dana Smith and her husband, Russell Dickerson of Douglasville, Melissa “Lisa” Peters of Douglasville; half sister, Melanie of Panama City Beach, FL; two stepbrothers, Wayne Loughry and Tony Loughry both of Douglasville; grandson, Lucas Eli Parker; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by a half sister, Monica. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. George Saffo officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be C.R. Gunter, Tim Pendelton, Dan Mott, Terry Smith, “Rip” Bloodworth, Dave Chambers and Pat Oldknow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Carl Coker may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
