Mr. Carl Mack Worthan, age 76, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at WellStar Douglas Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Douglas County, Georgia, he was born October 20, 1934 the son of the late Mr. John Warner Worthan, Sr. and the late Mrs. Katie Lou Harper Worthan. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Douglasville. He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation where he worked as the mail room supervisor for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Carl Worthan; sisters, Lois Lucille Worthan Bolding and Mary Virginia Worthan; brothers, Charlie Worthan, Hubert Worthan, Tom Worthan, John Worthan, Jr., and Frank Worthan. He is survived by his wife, Betty Camp Worthan of Douglasville; daughter, Leisa Mason of Douglasville; step-daughter, Theresa Reid of Jasper, AL; step-son and daughter-in-law, Al and Mindy Holley of Cartersville; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Tommy Foster of Douglasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude and Von Worthan, Richard and Joyce Worthan, and Raymond and Pat Worthan all of Douglasville; 4 grandchildren, Shonda âSpringerâ Martin, Erica Springer, Jason Worthan, and Emily Worthan; 4 great-grandchildren; 4 step-granddaughters; 1 step-grandson; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Marbut officiating. Interment will follow at Douglasville City Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers: Rev. Terry Worthan, Tom Worthan, Allen Worthan, Scott Worthan, Joey Kilian, and Mike Kilian. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Friday, January 21, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
