Carl Mannen Tanner

Mr. Carl Mannen Tanner, age 81 of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021. He was born September 7, 1939 in Fairmont, North Carolina, the son of the late Mr. Wiley Willard Tanner, Sr., and the late Mrs. Mary Agnes McQueen Tanner. Mr. Tanner drove a truck for West Brothers for many years and drove the church bus for many years at Midway Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was a very hard working, quiet and reserved man. He loved gardening, fishing off the pier and working on cars. Mr. Tanner was an active member of Atlanta West Pentecostal Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Wiley Willard Tanner, Jr., Daniel Tanner; sister, Mary Grace Taylor. Mr. Tanner is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Peggy Tanner of Douglasville, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Jamie Barker of Douglasville, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Nora Ann and Gary Sanderson of Evergreen, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Nancy Tanner of Dillon, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Zachary and Rebekah Barker of Newnan, Georgia, Jacob Barker of Lithia Springs, Georgia, Noah Barker of Douglasville, Georgia, Alyssa Barker of Douglasville, Georgia, Breanna Barker of Douglasville, Georgia; two great grandchildren, Cameron and Aubrey; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Atlanta West Pentecostal Church in Lithia Springs, Georgia, Monday, July 5, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, July 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM from Atlanta West Pentecostal Church with Pastor Darrell Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Memorial Park.
