Carl Schillinger

Carl Phillip Schillinger, affectionately known as Phil, 74, of Carrollton, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born in Atlanta on June 16, 1952, the son of the late Dawson Frech Schillinger and the late Constance Martin Schillinger.

Phil retired as a plant manager at Sara Lee Bakery where he worked for forty years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville, where he served as an elder, Sunday School teacher, youth leader and many other areas of the church. Above all, the mission field was his favorite, both local and global. Phil participated on several mission trips, with the Yucatan Peninsula and Haiti being his most memorable.

Phil was an avid jogger and fisherman. He also enjoyed traveling across the country with his wife, working in his yard and enjoying the outdoors. He was a member of the ATSAR K-9 Search and Rescue team. Most importantly, his favorite hobby was being a “Papa” to his six fabulous grandchildren. He spent most of his free time with them, making lasting memories.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Don Schillinger.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Alicia Schillinger; daughter and son-in-law, Mindy and Matt McDonald; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Lisa Schillinger; grandchildren, Emily, Peyton, Ethan, Hayden, Bentley, and Brady; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Sharon Schillinger; sister-in-law, Paulette Schillinger; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will have a private graveside service at West Georgia Memorial Park. There will be a public celebration of life announced at a later date.
