Carl Shepherd

Mr. Carl B. Shepherd, Jr., age 86, of Villa Rica passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Atlanta Medical Center. He was born December 21, 1924 in Rocky Face, Georgia the son of the late Carl B. Shepherd, Sr. and the late Mrs. Leah Page Shepherd. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII as an airplane mechanic. He was a member of Villa Rica Church of Christ. He was member of the Mableton Lodge #171 F & AM and was also a member of the Sweetwater Shrine Club he was instrumental in helping children get in the Shriners Hospital. Mr. Shepherd loved helping children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Shepherd and sister, Billie Privett. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Brenda Shepherd of Douglasville, David and Doris Shepherd of Villa Rica, Scott and Donna Shepherd of Villa Rica; sisters, Jane Griffin of Tunnel Hill, Jean Shepherd of Rocky Face, Cathryn Dupree of Rocky Face; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Villa Rica Church Christ in Villa Rica with Minister Patrick Gray officiating. Mr. Shepherd will lie instate from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Melrose Memorial Gardens in Villa Rica.
