Carol Sue Fleshood, 78, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026. She was born on August 23, 1947 in Wabash, Indiana to the late Maribelle Kindlesparker Unger and Joseph S. Unger.
Carol was a one-of-a-kind spirit whose sweetness and generosity touched many lives. With a passion for nursing and medicine, she dedicated herself to caring for others. She was always there when someone needed a hand, including those she did not know, helping when others did not notice someone in need.
Carol's love extended beyond her profession. She was deeply committed to various charitable causes and volunteered her time with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, reflecting her generous heart. Family history was important to her, too, and she treasured her role as a loving grandmother, always delighting in time spent with her grandkids. She enjoyed simple pleasures, like collecting recipes, candles, her favorite Dunkin' Donuts tea, spending time with her friends at the Blue Agave, and shopping for Victorian and Asian antiques to add to her collection. Carol's warmth and unwavering kindness made her a beacon to friends and family alike. She will be remembered for her heartfelt devotion and the unique blend of passions that made her who she was.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. William Michael Fleshood, Sr., a 23 year Air Force Veteran.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael (Micky) Fleshood, Jr., Tommy (Bonnie) Fleshood, and Danny Fleshood; as well as seven grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, Carol will be cremated and laid to rest with her late husband at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
A simple service will be held at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home on Saturday, June 6, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
