Mr. Cecil Leon Harvey, 69, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016. He was born January 29, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Gilbert Cecil Harvey and the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Moore Harvey. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Marilyn Cox on April 27, 1968 in Atlanta. He worked as a machinist for 38 years before retiring from Kraft-Nabisco. He was passionate about cars and was a member of the Ain’t Too Old Gang Car Club and the Old Cars and Old Friends Car Club. He served as Union President for IAM. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #289 F&AM. He was a family man and loved his family dearly. He was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church in Winston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Harvey; and sister, Patricia Ann Duffey. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn Cox Harvey of Douglasville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shay and Kevin Roberts of Clearwater, FL and Melissa and Paul Callaway of Douglasville; one son, Jeremy Harvey of Douglasville; sisters, Shirley Scruggs of Dayton, TN and Mary Gassett of Powder Springs, GA; brother, Robert Harvey of Snellville, GA; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Dr. Billy Godwin officiating. Military Honors will be provided by members of the United States Army Honor Guard. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
