Cecil Humes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cecil G. Humes, 65, of Villa Rica, who left this world peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. He was born on February 21, 1961, in Jamaica, the son of the late Cleveland Humes and the late Ethel Weir Humes.

Cecil will be remembered as a selfless and extraordinary man whose life touched many people. He loved to share, and he brought warmth and generosity into the lives of those around him. He was smart, articulate, and funny. Cecil had a way of making others feel at ease while also leaving a lasting impression with his sharp mind. He was a hard worker, a friend to the friendless, and someone who never sought credit for the good he did. Those who knew Cecil will also remember his remarkable memory, often described as that of an elephant.

Above all, Cecil’s children and grandchildren brought him the most joy. They were the center of his world.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchild Tashane Humes; brother, Oliver Humes.

He is survived by his children, Fayona Humes of Villa Rica, Jermaine Humes (Camille) of Villa Rica, Daniel Humes (Andrea) of Villa Rica, Liveon Humes (Shalian) of Douglasville; sisters, Esther Humes of Miami, Florida, Olive Walker of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Miriam Thomas of St. Catherine, Jamaica, Violet Humes of St. Anns, Jamaica; brother, Cardinal Humes (Winnifred) of Williamsburg, New Jersey; grandchildren, Danea, Tyreese, Amaru, Rukyia, Freedom, Camari, Cairon, Khalphani; two great-grandchildren; friend, Violet Jones-Williams and Joshae Williams; Neville and family, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel with funeral services conducted at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens.

Cecil’s memory will live on in the lives he encouraged, the kindness he gave without recognition, and the laughter and wisdom he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
