Charles Edmund Sauls

Mr. Charles Edmund "Hoot" Sauls, age 89, of Villa Rica, passed away, Tuesday, March 10, 2020. He was born July 4, 1930 in Villa Rica, the son of the late Mr. Blanche Oliver Sauls and the late Mrs. Bammie Lodessa Simmons Sauls. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Villa Rica and held several positions in the church. Some are ordained Deacon, where he served several times as the Chairman of the Deacons, building committee, and Sunday School Teacher. He sang in the choir for many years, and was currently a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He loved bowling, fishing, golfing, UGA football, and watching all Atlanta sports teams. He was a supportive and dedicated Wildcat for all the Villa Rica sports. He along with his wife, were honored and named the longest dedicated Villa Rica Wildcat, "he bled purple and gold". Included in his and his wife's support of the Wildcats, they cheered on their daughters in 1969 as the Villa Rica Lady Wildcats won the state class A Basketball Championship. Mr. Sauls served as Chairman of the Housing Authority, a Villa Rica City Councilman, and Poll Master for many years in Villa Rica. Mr. Sauls was a Master Electrician and member of the IBEW Local 613 and a Mason. He wrote and authored a book about his boy hood and upbringing in Fullerville, titled, "The Linthead". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis Sauls, James Sauls, Cecil Sauls, and Roger Sauls and sister, Mazie Gilland. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edith Howell Sauls of Villa Rica; daughter and son-in-law, Susanne and Frederick Thomas of Villa Rica, Dianne Sauls Smith of Winston, Gail and Tommy Chapman of Hampton; grandchildren, Jennifer and Toby Lammie of Villa Rica, Jessica and Daniell Albertson of Douglasville, Jeff and Amanda Smith of Douglasville, Matthew and Tara Thomas of Wake Forest, NC, Mary and Thomas Davis of Cartersville, Michele Chapman of Atlanta, Mallory and Ian Agnew of Chamblee; great grandchildren, Adriana and Jason Cole of Douglasville, Trent Albertson, Tex Albertson, Trey Albertson, Maddie Albertson, Abigail Smith, Grace Smith, Joshua Smith, Jacob Smith, Elias Thomas, Garrison Thomas, Hatton Thomas, Aubrey Davis, Owen Davis, and Michaela Davis; great-great grandchildren, Zoe Berry, Reese Cole, and Piper Cole; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Mr. Sauls will lie in state Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM from First Baptist Church of Villa Rica. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 2:30 PM from First Baptist Church of Villa Rica with Dr. Kevin Williams and Rev. Jeff Powell officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Villa Rica Building Fund, 1483 W Highway 78, Villa Rica, Georgia 30180.
