Mr. Charles Graham Kerfoot, Jr., age 85, of Winston, Georgia, formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 following an extended illness. He was born August 31, 1927 in Roanoke, Virginia the son of the late Mr. Charles G. Kerfoot, Sr. and the late Mrs. Josie Mae Poole Kerfoot. He served in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines during World War II and Korea. He received numerous military accommodations during the Korean Conflict including the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He retired as a Public Relations Officer for the Tennessee Valley Authority. He served as the Commander of the VFW Post 5150. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Donald. He is survived by his wife, Carol Cargile Kerfoot of Winston; three daughters and a son, Virginia and Russell Brown of Sanford, FL, Dianna Graham of Knoxville, TN, Nancy Jean Davis of Knoxville, TN, Robert E. and Barbara Kerfoot of Merritt Island, FL; stepdaughter and a son-in-law, Deana and David Johnson of Winston; sisters, Celeste, Joyce, Brenda, Carol and Judy; brother, Russell; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. According to the familyâs wishes his body was cremated. Memorial Graveside Services will be conducted March 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Loudon County Memorial Gardens with VFW Post 5150 officiating.
