Mr. Charles Alexander “Charlie” McLarty, 89, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018. A Douglasville native, he was born December 29, 1928 the son of the late Mr. Walt McLarty and the late Mrs. Wilma Daisy Reynolds McLarty. He worked as a mixer operator at Pillsbury. He served as the Douglasville City Police Chief for many years and then went on to serve in the Douglas County Sheriff Department for over 30 years. He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church in Douglasville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hall McLarty; son, Charles Michael McLarty; sister, Evelyn Marlow; brothers, Hugh McLarty and Claude McLarty. He is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Odom, Beth and Jerry Cosby, and Jackie and Mark Merritt all of Douglasville; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Suzanne and Mark Butler, Jennifer and Chad Daniell, Jonathan Merritt, Mary and Jason Hammett, Alex Merritt and his fiancé, Erin, Mallori Cosby, Marissa and Spencer Fouts, and Shannon Merritt and her fiancé, Chris; six great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Butler, Anna Butler, Zack Butler, Christian Daniell, Chase Daniell, Kylie Daniell; sister-in-law, Margie Bell of Douglasville; nieces, Margaret Milam, Alana Coburn, and Rhonda Rigsbee; nephew, Gary Marlow. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Friday, January 26, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Francisco Artley officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Road Baptist Church Cemetery. Messages of condolence to the family may be sent at www.jones-wynn.com.
