Charles R. Darby

December 9, 1929 — February 1, 2011

Charles Darby, 81, of Douglasville, met the Lord face-to-face on February 1, 2011. A native of Mableton, Mr. Darby married his childhood sweetheart, Datha Beck in 1949, and the couple gave birth to three daughters. On January 31, 1970, he totally surrendered his heart and life and became a new creature in Christ. His Young Adult Sunday School class at Mableton Church of God touched many lives and he was blessed to witness those go on to raise children and grandchildren who serve the Lord. In 1984, the family moved to Douglasville, where he continued his ministry. The family is now part of The Church at Chapel Hill. After his retirement from Liberty National Insurance, Mr. Darby taught himself computer and continued his long ministry via his website, www.christ-centered.net, writing and sending a daily email devotional that witnessed for Christ all over the world. His youngest daughter, Debbie, was there to greet her Daddy when he arrived in heaven. The family he leaves behind includes his wife, Datha Beck Darby; Johnnie and Linda Darby Hughes, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild; David and Becky Darby Frix, their children and grandchildren; Ray and Lorraine Beck Adams, their children and grandchildren; his brother Clark and Jean Darby of Powder Springs; many other dear family members; and countless children in the Lord. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to The Church at Chapel Hill in Douglasville (www.churchatchapelhill.com) for the building fund, so that his life's work of spreading the Word will continue for many years to come.
