Charles Ralph Allen

Mr. Charles Ralph Allen, age 67, of Bomar Road, Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at Piedmont Hospital. He was born October 13, 1942 in Cornelia, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Henry Grady Allen and Mrs. Julia Mae Hopkins Allen. He was also cared for by his loving aunt, Emily Hopkins Shirley. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a bus driver for Marta in Atlanta following 30 years of service. He enjoyed working with his hands and was able to fix and build almost anything. In his spare time he enjoyed boating. Mr. Allen was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Faye Sanders Allen of Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Lynn and Randy Stockton of Douglasville, Karla Charlene and Alan Jordan of Andalusia, AL, and Debbie Everidge of Roswell; sons and daughter-in-law, Kirby Fuller Allen of Douglasville, Kylie Charles Allen of Camden, TN, and Tony Kevin and Sondra Carter of Douglasville; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary and Bill Conner of Athens, Sara Allen Briggs of Athens, and Abby Inez Williams; brothers and sisters-in-law, Curtis Allen of Toccoa, Robert and Pat Allen of Temple, George and Gail Allen of Toccoa, Doug Allen of Toccoa, David Allen of Athens and Donald and Betty Allen of Toccoa; his aunt, Emily Hopkins Shirley of Smyrna; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Ralph Allen will be conducted Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Gibbs, Mr. George Allen, and Deaf Pastor Jeremy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
