Mr. Charles Robert Gibby, age 71, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. H e was born June 23, 1938 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Bob Gibby and the late Mrs. Cloe Ramsey Gibby. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist Faith. He married Sally Kay Sims on October 14, 1961 in McCormick, South Carolina. He worked as a stock clerk for Ford Motor Company and later worked as a self-employed contractor. Mr. Gibby was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed gardening in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by sisters, Irene Breazeale and Ruby Stonecypher. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sally Kay Gibby of Lithia Springs; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbie and Matt Klimaszewski of Newnan, Beth and Alex Richardson of Douglasville, and Julie and Scott Baggett of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Cindy Gibby of Douglasville; sisters, Elizabeth Thomas of Temple and Evelyn Bennett of Bremen; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Bray officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Tuesday, March 17, 2010 from 12 Noon until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Gibby may be made to the Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, 4031 Bankhead Highway, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
