Charles Williams

Brother Charles Edgar Williams, 88, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. A native of Villa Rica, he was born May 16, 1926, the son of the late Mr. Homer Lee Williams and the late Mrs. Sara Frances Browning Williams. He served honorably in the United States Navy from 1944-1947. He married Martha Jean Smith on January 18, 1947 in New Georgia. After receiving the call to preach, Brother Williams went on to serve the Lord for over 60 years as a pastor. Over the years, he has served in the following churches: New Georgia Baptist Church, Harmony Grove Baptist Church, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, White Oaks Springs Baptist Church, Abilene Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Second Baptist Church of Riverdale, Callie Harbin Baptist Church, and Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church. He served as President of Windward Island Mission, served on the Board of Directors for Rock of Ages Mission for over 30 years, and was a moderator for Preacher’s Fellowship for over 20 years. He was strong in his Faith, was devoted to the Lord, and loved his family dearly. He was a member of Callie Harbin Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jean Smith Williams; and sisters, Oree Parks and Pauline Drummond. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Junior Bearden of Dallas, Robin and Tim Brown of Marietta, and Lisa and Terry Thomas of Eatonton; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Terre Williams of Dallas; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Brother Williams will lie in state at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, August 4, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church on Hwy 120 in the Draketown community with Brother Danny Watters, Brother Micah Williams, Brother Emmanuel Parillon, Brother Doug Weaver, Brother Bobby Wilkerson, Brother Jerry Hollis, Brother Garland Odom, Brother Horace Wilson and Brother Jason Hudgens officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Josh Williams, Micah Williams Amber Allen, Renee Hill, Kyle Cochran and Becky Bearden. Interment will follow at Melrose Hills Memorial Gardens in Villa Rica. Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Brown, Caine Bearden, Jason Bearden, Drake Thomas, Cole Williams, and Christian Bearden.
