Charlie Mae McElhannon, age 91, of Temple, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022. She was born June 11, 1931 in Walling, Tennessee, daughter of the late Mr. Robert Charles Roberts and the late Mrs. Violet Mae Roberts. Mrs. McElhannon loved the Lord and was a faithful church member. She was very healthy and exercised religiously and led a very active lifestyle. She was a big believer in herbs and natural remedies. Mrs. McElhannon had a love for gardening especially flowers. She enjoyed canning, cooking and baking. While spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren she painted and wrote stories about their adventures.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Clay McElhannon, sister, Estelle Tuten.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Bill) Allen of Marietta; son, Richard (Kayla) McElhannon of Temple; sister, Laverne (Rodney) Ferguson of Jackson; 7 grandchildren, Candie (John) Dewberry, Doug (Malissa) Allen, Dana (Trey) Kiess, Daniel (Leah) Allen, Brandi (Christopher) Morgan, Clay (Noel) McElhannon, JoDan (Mary) McElhannon; 16 great grandchildren, Shane (Marlana) Harmon, Zachary Allen, Matthew (Shannon) Allen, Lacey Allen, Naomi Kiess, Wyatt Kiess, Kayla Gann, Lexie (Michael) Hernandez, Tucker Morgan, Billy Allen, Emily Dewberry, Haley McElhannon, Christian McElhannon, Kolton McElhannon, Hannah McElhannon, Tyler McElhannon; 10 great great grandchildren, Braylen Harmon, Charleigh Harmon, Dalton Harmon, Everett Harmon, Rylee May Allen, Parker James Allen, Remi, Eloise, Ari; and several nieces and nephews
Family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Jamie Rollins officiating.
