Mrs. Cheryl Eckert Allgood, age 69, of Temple, passed away, Monday, January 22, 2018. She was born September 24, 1948 in Macon, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. Lawrence Ira Eckert and the late Mrs. Katherine Harvey Eckert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Fran Lewis. Cheryl grew up in Macon, Georgia an attended Georgia Southern College. She retired from the Times-Georgian in 2016 after over 40 years of service, and was a long time member of the Temple United Methodist Church. She was lovingly known as 'Agnes' by her long time Temple friends, and was 'Mama San' to her 2 year old grandson Pierce. Few things made her happier than her family and her children. Cheryl always put the needs of others above her own, and loved making those around her happy. She loved gardening and would spend hours transforming her backyard into a beautiful oasis. She loved literature and poetry, especially works by Carl Sandburg and Robert Frost. She enjoyed antiquing and repurposing old furniture and household items, always turning junk into treasure. Her culinary talents were amazing. She could produce an entire 4 course meal from an empty pantry, and her 'Corn Casserole' recipe has been requested hundreds of times. She was a phenomenal cook and loved to share meals with friends. Any beach, anywhere was Cheryl's favorite place to be. She looked most forward to her beach trips with dear friends Sloan & Janice Barrow, where they would camp and fish for King Mackerel. Cheryl lived for SEC College Football. Munson and the Georgia Bulldogs were her favorite, and she rarely missed a game. Cheryl was the heartbeat of our lives, and she will be greatly missed.
