Cheryl Hamby Boyd Ms. Cheryl Hamby Boyd, 62 of Carrollton, GA died Friday, September 23, 2011. Ms. Boyd was born in Liberty, NC on May 18, 1949. The daughter of the late Burkett Hamby and Ruth Jones Hamby Harris. She began her 38-year pediatric nursing career at Egleston Children’s Health Care in Atlanta. She continued her professional career at Tanner Medical Center until her health declined. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carrollton, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her father, Burkett Hamby, her first husband, Bob Hampton and her father-in-law, Sam Phelps. Survivors include her daughter, Jill Hampton of Carrollton, Son-in-law, George Allen McCall, Jr. of Carrollton, Mother, Ruth Harris of Norcross, sisters; Janice Jerkins of Powder Springs and Karen Crowder of North Carolina, Aunt, Sue Truitt of Huntsville, AL, Uncle, Johnny Ray Jones of North Carolina, nieces and nephews, and mother-in-law, Nell Phelps of Villa Rica. Memorial services will be conducted Monday, September 26, 2011 at 1:00 PM from the First United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Georgia with the Rev. Gerry Davis and Rev. Karla Otroszko officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Gathering Room. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the Tanner Hospice, 101 Clinic Avenue, Carrollton, Georgia 30117. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Inc. Cremation Services and Memorial Gardens of Villa Rica in charge of arrangements.
