Mrs. Clara Lou Mott DeWitt, age 69, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019. She was born September 24, 1950 in Elmira, New York, the daughter of the late Mr. Daniel Mott and the late Mrs. Dorothy Peterson Mott. She worked as a jailer for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department. Along with her husband, Paul, they shared the art of glassblowing for many years. She loved flowers and her dogs, Kazee, Takota and Julie Ann. Mrs. DeWitt loved her grandchildren and great-grandchilden. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brothers, Terry Mott, who died in the Vietnam War, Bradley Mott and an infant brother; her sisters, Prudence Mott and Dorothy Clark. Mrs. DeWitt is survived by her husband, Paul Roger DeWitt, Sr. of Douglasville; her daughter, Nancy DeWitt of Ringgold, Georgia; her son and daughter-in-law, Paul Richard DeWitt, Jr. and Tabitha DeWitt of Villa Rica; her sisters and brother-in-law, Laura and Charles Kennedy of Erin, New York and Lueann Skelly of Horseheads, New York; brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Brenda Mott of Sayre, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Shawn and Jamie DeWitt of Midland, Texas and Kyle DeWitt of Douglasville; and her great-grandchildren, Beckett A. DeWitt, Scarlett Kelly DeWitt and Harper Blake DeWitt. According to her wishes, Mrs. DeWitt will be cremated and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
