Claude Roger Watson

Mr. Claude “Roger” Watson, age 82, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica. He was born October 24, 1927, the son of the late Mr. Claude Watson and the late Mrs. Dana Auther Watson. He married his wife Myra Nell White Watson on September 21, 1947. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church. He began his career at Lockheed-Martin in May of 1951 where he was a lead man who worked on the C-5, C130, C141 and the Jetstar. He retired from Lockheed Martin in May 1988 with 36 years of devoted service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Vincent Brown; brothers, Carroll Watson and Bill Watson; and sister-in-law, Betty Watson. He is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Myra Nell Watson of Villa Rica; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Gary Watson of Villa Rica; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Ginger Watson of Villa Rica; sister and brother-in-law, Dallas and Tom Richardson of Lithia Springs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Frances Watson of LaGrange, Ridley Watson of Lithia Springs, and Rev. Ikey and Diane Watson of Douglasville; sisters-in-law, Lois Watson of Douglasville and Deloris Watson of Leary his grandchildren, Shane and Mandy Watson of Taylorsville, Anna and Chad Smith of Villa Rica, Drew Pounds of Trion, and Megan Watson of Athens; great-grandchildren, Mason Watson, Andrew Watson, Vance Smith, Shelby Smith, and Taylor Smith; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, February 12, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Concord Baptist Church in Temple with Rev. Don Rackley, Rev. Hoyt Lewis officiating and eulogies by Anna Smith and Megan Watson. Musical selections will be provided by Gerald Fields with Kay Palmer at the piano and Ruth Williams at the organ. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery with his brother, Rev. Ikey Watson officiating. The following will serve as pallbearers: Larry White, David White, Courtney White, Lance Watson, Adam Watson, Donnie Watson, Terry Watson and Ronnie White. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Villa Rica, Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
